Author Guidelines

Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted by one of the authors of the manuscript through email to: [email protected] or alternatively, the author may register as author with this journal and submit the manuscript online.Only electronic PDF (.pdf) or Word (.doc, .docx, .odt, .rtf, .txt) files can be submitted and there is no page limit. Special characters should not be included in the file name of the main manuscript file. Submissions by anyone other than one of the authors will not be accepted. The submitting author takes responsibility for the manuscript during submission and peer review.

Terms of submission

Please note that manuscripts must be submitted exclusively to this journal and must not have been published elsewhere. Furthermore, the submitting author bears the responsibility of ensuring that all co-authors have approved the article’s publication and that all necessary institutional approvals have been obtained. Once the manuscript has been received, an acknowledgment from the editorial office will confirm the date of receipt. Any further correspondence and proofs will be sent to the author(s) prior to publication, unless otherwise specified. Please be aware that the manuscript may be edited for readability, and it is a condition of submission that authors grant permission for such edits. For any inquiries regarding the publication of accepted manuscripts, please contact the journal editorial email.

Peer review

To maintain the quality of our journal, all submitted articles are subject to thorough assessment and peer review. This process is designed to ensure both editorial appropriateness and technical correctness, and helps us to publish only the highest quality research.

Research published in the journal must be:

  • Scientifically valid – adhering to accepted community standards of research.
  • Technically accurate in its methods and results.
  • Representative of a specific advance, or replication, or null/negative result, which is worthy of publication.
  • As reproducible as possible – sharing underlying data, code, and supporting materials wherever able.
  • Ethically sound and transparent – adhering to best practice with respect to animal and human studies, consent to publish, and clear declaration of potential conflicts of interests, both real and perceived.

At our journal, we are committed to promoting open science and sharing research findings. As such, we do not place undue emphasis on novelty, interest, or perceived impact, and welcome replication studies, particularly of research previously published in this journal. In order to ensure that all articles published in our journal meet our high standards, the assigned editor will first assess whether the manuscript meets the minimum editorial standards and is within the scope of the journal. If the article is deemed suitable, the editor will typically solicit at least two external peer reviewers (whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors, unless they choose to disclose their identity by signing the review report) to evaluate the article prior to making a decision on whether to accept it. Decisions to reject an article are at the discretion of the editor. Occasionally, our research integrity team may seek advice outside of the standard peer review process, particularly for submissions that raise ethical, security, biosecurity, or societal implications. In these cases, we may consult with experts and the editor to determine appropriate actions, such as recruiting reviewers with specific expertise, involving additional editors in the review process, or declining to further consider the submission.

Concurrent submissions

In order to ensure sufficient diversity within the authorship of the journal, authors will be limited to having three manuscripts under review at any point in time. If an author already has three manuscripts under review in the journal, they will need to wait until the review process of at least one of these manuscripts is complete before submitting another manuscript for consideration. This policy does not apply to editorials or other non-peer-reviewed manuscript types.

Preprints

We support the deposition of manuscripts in preprint servers and do not consider this to compromise the novelty of the results. Therefore, articles based on content that has previously been made publicly available only on a preprint server, institutional repository, or in a thesis will be considered for publication. Please ensure that any preprints are cited appropriately.

Article types

The journal will consider the following article types: original papers, review papers, conceptual framework, analytical and simulation models, case studies, empirical research, technical notes, and book reviews.

Formatting

An optional research article manuscript template can be downloaded here. This journal's Submission Template can also be used to prepare and to submit a manuscript for review. Authors are required to download Cover Letter and Declaration Form, fill it in, and submit it to the journal along with the Manuscript. The authors may use color for graphs and figures, but the layout of paper is only in white and black in the print format. The font type and size on the figure(s)/tables(s) must be the same with the text. We recommend that all manuscripts include line numbers and follow the structure below:

Title Page

Title page is a separated page before the text. Provide the following information on the title page (in the order given). It should include:
Title
Concise and informative. Titles are often used in information-retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible.
Author’s names and affiliations
Please indicate the given name and family name clearly. Present the authors' affiliation addresses (where the actual work was done) below the names. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address. Provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country name, and, if available, the e-mail address, and telephone number of each author.
Corresponding author
Clearly indicate who is willing to handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing, publication and also post-publication. Ensure that telephone numbers (with country and area code) are provided in addition to the e-mail address and the complete postal address.
Sponsoring information
If the research is sponsored or supported by an organization, please indicate it.

Preparation of text

  • Abstract

A concise and factual abstract is required (maximum length of 250 words). The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions. An abstract is often presented separate from the article, so it must be able to stand alone. References should therefore be avoided, but if essential, they must be cited in full, without reference to the reference list.

  • Keywords

Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 8 keywords, avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, 'and', 'of'). Be sparing with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible.

  • Subdivision of the article

Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered 1., 2., (then 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2), 1.2, etc. (the abstract is not included in section numbering). Use this numbering also for internal cross-referencing: do not just refer to 'the text.' Any subsection, ideally, should not be more than 600 words. Authors are urged to write as concisely as possible, but not at the expense of clarity.

  • Figures

Graphs, diagrams, chromatograms, photos, etc. should be prepared as clear, black and white (no color), original positives, suitable for reproduction. All figures should be embedded within the manuscript, and must be captioned and numbered sequentially.

  • Tables and Equations

Tables and equations should not be submitted in a format exceeding the A4 page size (in portrait form). All tables should be embedded within the manuscript, and must be captioned and numbered sequentially.

  • Formula

The text size of formula should be similar with normal text size.

  • References

The journal adheres to the APA 7th Edition reference style. Click here to review the guidelines on APA to ensure your manuscript conforms to this reference style. MLA format and styling can also be used for only English literature manuscripts.

  • Acknowledgments

All acknowledgments (if any) should be included at the very end of the manuscript before the references. Anyone who made a contribution to the research or manuscript, but who is not a listed author, should be acknowledged (with their permission).

Data availability

This statement should describe how readers can access the data supporting the conclusions of the study and clearly outline the reasons why unavailable data cannot be released.

Conflict of interest

Contributors should reveal any actual or potential conflict of interest including any financial, personal or other relationships with other people or organizations within three years of beginning the submitted work that could inappropriately influence, or be perceived to influence, their work.

Funding statement

All sources of funding of the study should be disclosed. Clearly indicate grants that you have received in support of your research work and if you received funds to cover publication costs. Note that some funders will not refund article processing charges (APC) if the funder and grant number are not clearly and correctly identified in the paper. Funding information can be entered separately into the submission system by the authors during submission of their manuscript.

Article processing charges

Article submission in IJALEL Journal is free of charge; there are no submission charges, no publication fees (APC), and no surcharges based on the length of an article, figures or supplementary data. Publication in IJALEL Journal is totally free of charge, totally gratis.

ORCID

Prior to publication, an ORCID iD must be provided for the corresponding author(s). If you already have an ORCID iD, you will be asked to provide it. If you haven’t registered with ORCID yet, we’ll help you create an iD at the point of submission. The ORCID is not required for submission, or for peer review, but we will not be able to publish your article online until an ORCID iD is provided.

Changes to authorship

All contributing authors should qualify for authorship. The order of authorship should be a joint decision of the co-authors. Sufficient participation in the work is of utmost importance. Authorship credit should be based on substantial contribution to conception and design, execution, or analysis and interpretation of data. All authors should be involved in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content, must have read and approved the final version of the manuscript and approve of its submission to the journal. Any change in authorship following initial submission would have to be agreed by all authors as would any change in the order of authors.

Corrections and retractions

When errors are identified in published articles, the publisher will consider what action is required and may consult the editors and the authors’ institution(s). Errors by the authors may be corrected by a corrigendum and errors by the publisher by an erratum. If there are errors that significantly affect the conclusions or there is evidence of misconduct, this may require retraction or an expression of concern following the COPE Retraction Guidelines. All authors will be asked to agree to the content of the notice. An author name change after publication will be made to the article and any citing articles published by journal and the publisher without requiring documentation. However, it would be the author responsivity to reach out other databases to request for a name update.

Language editing and author services

We have partnered with a number of leading author services providers to offer our authors an exclusive 10% discount on a wide range of manuscript preparation and post-publication services. This discount applies to various language editing, translation, and research communication services. Authors need further information or wish to make use of this service should contact us via: [email protected]

You can make use of a free artificial intelligence (AI)-based language editing tool, Writefull, at the point of submission. Writefull will scan your manuscript and make suggestions to help improve the quality of your writing. The tool applies machine learning, trained on millions of published scientific articles, and suggests improvements to grammar, spelling, and academic language.

Appeals

Authors may appeal if they feel that the decision to reject was based on: i) a major misunderstanding over a technical aspect of the manuscript; or ii) a failure to understand the scientific advance shown by the manuscript. Appeals requesting a second opinion without sufficient justification will not be considered. To lodge an appeal, please contact the journal by email, quoting your manuscript number. Appeals will only be considered from the original submitting author.
